Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons of McLeod Nutrition Whey Protein Concentrate powder
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup milk (any type)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional add-ins: dried fruits, chocolate chips
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with baking paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, McLeod Nutrition Whey Protein Concentrate powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract.
- Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture and gently stir until just combined. If using any optional add-ins, fold them in at this stage.
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Pat it down into a circle, approximately 1 inch thick.
- Using a sharp knife or a round biscuit cutter, cut the dough into scone shapes and place them onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown on top.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
- Serve the scones warm or at room temperature with butter, jam, or whipped cream.
